I fear my AirPods have been stolen from my purse... I paired them with my phone but it is not showing up on my lost iPhone app.. how can I locate them?

If your AirPods are lost - Apple Support - "Need help finding your AirPods? Use Find My iPhone to see your AirPods on a map, play a sound to locate them, and get back to wireless listening." https://support.apple.com/HT207581

That's pretty much all you can do other than the old fashioned methods of looking under the couch cushions, asking the police, etc.
