1499$ 2019 MacBook Pro shuts down while exporting a video from iMovie

Hi,

Here are the steps to reproduce the issue:

1- Share a project in iMovie as mp4 file (i.e. export it to the desktop).

2- Wait few seconds and put the computer in sleep mode (i.e. close the screen).

3- Wait few seconds.

4- The computer crashes and literally becomes unresponsive.

It will restart after few minutes. In my opinion, putting the computer in sleep mode prevents the fan from rotating but the computer keeps using CPU and thus the processor gets hotter until the computer shuts down to avoid burning. After restarting, I get an error message (see the picture below) and my mp4 file is not created.

I went to an Apple Store to get help. they reinstalled MacOS Mojave and it did not fix the issue. So, they gave me a new Mac but I still have the same problem, even with a new Mac. So this issue is reproduced on two Macs.

I want to know if other people have this issue? Also, is it a problem from MacOS or iMovie? Do you think the problem is caused by a lack of performance?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

I called Apple and the issue is resolved. The problem is caused by a conflict between admin rights. iMovie prevents the computer from sleeping while a video is exporting. However, if an admin user is exporting a video, the user command are prioritized over iMovie and the computer enters sleep mode while it should not and the computer just crashes. This does not happen if a user with no admin rights is exporting a video.

A diagnostic file is sent to Apple and they should try to fix this.

I don't find any file that starts with "Kernel" . However, there are a couple of files that starts with "iMovie", which is the app that makes my computer to crash.

You don't need to close the screen, the computer turns off the display after a while (if I don't do any action) and it will crash if it is exporting a video.
