I’m getting the newest iPod touch soon and since for the device it only showed the 6th gen iPod I selected that. Anyways I’m looking for a good sturdy case that hopefully isn’t too expensive waterproof/fall proof/shockproof of any of them are possible

They will also fit 5th gen touch cases there may just be an extra hole in the lower corner of the case to accommodate a wrist strap. But I didn’t care so successfully put my 7th gen in a case I bought for my 5th gen.
Amazon is the best place to look. Even if you don’t buy from there it gives you the best selection and names of manufacturer’s to look for

Check the Internet for cases.
You need to buy a third-party one, since Apple doesn't offer any cases for the iPod touch (except third-party ones in the Store maybe). The dimensions of the 6th and 7th gen are exactly the same, so 6th gen cases will fit the 7th gen and vice versa.
