There's no iOS 9.3.6 update appearing to my iPad 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular (GSM). Is this update only available to the CDMA version of the iPad 2?

Odd, 3G is a type of cellular network, so yes they should be the same thing.
And yes, the model number corresponds to a cellular iPad 2. Specifically GSM version for AT&T.
Its very strange its not appearing in iTunes either.
Outside of trying again in a couple of days, i'm not sure what else to suggest.
All info from Apple suggests that iPad 2 should be getting the 9.3.6 update.

@rbrylawski, there was no iPad 2 capable of LTE. LTE didn't exist at the time. So that difference is moot. An iPad 2 Wifi+3G is for all intents and purposes a Cellular iPad.
Very interesting! I was under the impression it was just for the iPad 4th Generation. Glad to see these older devices getting some attention.
Try Apple's telephone assistance. They say my iPad is iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G and the update is available only for iPad 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular. Is it real? 3G and Cellular are not the same?
Remarkable, actually. No other tech company would offer aging devices like these an update.
Yeah I agree. Sometimes the Apple support people know less than we do.
I'd pull out my old iPad 2 to test, but a smashed screen, and a non charging battery sealed its coffin a while ago.
Went to a local Apple Store today. The Genius told me to wait a month and see if they release it by then. I’m quite frustrated that this hasn’t been resolved yet.
You're probably wrong, since even the later GSM versions of iPad Mini and iPad 3 got the 9.3.6 update.
ON the IPSW page for Apple updates, there is no update for iPad 2 GSM.
If you believe it's an oversight on Apple's part, call them and ask them.

The iPad 2 CDMA uses a Broadcom chipset for the radio and the gps. The GSM version uses 2 chipsets based on Intel/Infineon.
Maybe Intel/Infineon has not provided a fix for this issue.
