What is the best way to save/store the photos I have in iPhoto on my Mac Air?

Do I need to copy to an external hard drive?

MacBook Air 13", OS X 10.10

Time machine.. and also a backup on an external hard drive.

However, that seems like just to restore if I needed to.

How would I see these photos on another device ( Mac or NonMac?)

You can copy them to a USB thumbdrive, too.

Sharing has nothing to do with backing up. As to how to share, that pretty much depends on what devices. Google Photos will work with most anything.
