weak vibration in iphone XR

I found a long discussion about this for iphone 6, had no problem with my 5s, sorry I upgraded, the XR is also too weak, was thinking maybe a hard shell case would fix it a bit? there is no point telling me to put the ringer on, when my phone is on my desk at work, I just want the vibration when I get a text, I used to be able to hear the hum of the vibration, now nothing. It's too weak.
