apple account for child's phone

We are unable to create an Apple ID or sign in with one on my child's iPhone SE. All the sign in areas for Apple ID are grayed-out. Is this because we are using Screen Time? He wants to download some apps.

Hey not13anymore,

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, you're trying to set up and/or sign into an Apple ID on your child's iPhone SE, but are unable to, as the options are greyed out. I'm happy to help!

It looks like you have Screen Time enabled on the iPhone SE. If the option in Screen Time to prevent account changes is enabled, this would prevent you from signing in or out of an Apple ID, and would prevent you from creating a new one, as well.

You can use the steps under the "Allow changes to other settings and features" section of Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support to see how to turn them off.

Cheers!
