Trouble printing multiple photos on one page using Photos

Good afternoon:

I just started using a new iMac (Mojave 10.14.5) with Photos program version 4.

I use a Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer for photographs.

When I select 4 images and set their size to 3.5 x 5 inches, they all fit on a letter size sheet of paper and appear as such in the Preview screen. I don't seem to have many options for choosing the paper, so I selected "Glossy Photo paper" and hit print. All 4 images print, but in a single 3.5 x 5 box, leaving 3/4 of the paper unused.

I tried using regular paper and "fast draft" and they printed as I wished.

I did check to make sure I had the current driver on the Mac and updated software in the printer.

Any suggestions would be helpful!

Kris

Hi again:

Success! Not sure exactly what did it; someone from Canon suggested that I delete the printer and then add it and its driver back. Unplugged the unit, also.

I also checked for, and ran a general system update this morning. I've printed a few sheets now so I think I'm in the clear. I can always reference your complete set of other suggestions if it reverts back to the other format.

Thank you again,

Kris

Booting into Safe Mode is no where near as fast as a regular boot. Are you sure you held down the Shift key until after the Apple loge appeared?

Reset the printing system as described in this Apple document: If you can't print from your Mac or iOS device - Apple Support

Launch Photos with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Try printing from it. Any change?

Next log into another user account on your Mac and see if you get the same results in trying to print 4 images on a single sheet of paper.

Lastly download and apply the macOS Mojave 10.14.6 Combo Update- and try printing again.

Hello OT:

Yes, I set the paper size (Letter, Borderless) in the top and selected the photo size (3.5 x 5) in the lower part of the same window.

The preview window looks correct, but when it prints the 4 images are all in the top left corner in a 3.5 x 5 box.

I'll try the PDF option; I print a lot of pictures (scrapbooking) so one extra step won't kill me to stop wasting paper!

I'll keep you informed - or let me know if you have another question! (I do have screenshots on the desktop computer - helpful, or not really as I've described everything above?)

Thanks,

Kris

Hi again:

I rebooted in safe mode and still have the same problem! Tried once from Photos without success. Saved as PDF, opened in Preview, and entire selection of images again printed in 3.5 x 5 rectangle in the top corner. Same thing if I tried to print 6 images instead of 4 - still only in the top corner.

Is this some kind of Apple ploy to not allow printing of multiple images on larger paper?

BTW rebooting from Safe Mode was very quick; the computer is brand new and we've literally been using it about 2 months; just finally got the photo printer set up and the images loaded last week.
