NEED HELP WITH PHOTO APP ON PHONE AND MAC

For some reason I cannot discern, today my photos have stopped automatically uploading from my iPhone to my Mac. I just started using a Mac a year ago, and this wonderful feature was just there! I've searched for answers and so forth, so I finally managed to find today's photos in the Cloud. But I cannot do anything with them there, e.g. export them from Photos to Documents so I can edit and use them. They are useless to me in the **** Cloud. I did download them to Finder, but again, they are useless to me there.

So my question is What happened? How do I get the photos on my phone to upload to Photos on my Mac? Why did it stop? How do I get them out of the effing cloud and into Photos on my Mac? I am repeating myself! So **** frustrated.

I appreciate any help y'all smarter peeps can give me! Thank you, thank you.

You have already checked, that your photos are in your Photos Library in iCloud, so your iPhone is clearly uploading them. So you have to find a reason, why the Mac cannot download them. Can you tell us more?

  • Which version of MacOS X is installed on your Mac?
  • What are the iCloud Preferences in Photos on your Mac and in the System Preferences?
  • And how much free storage do you have on your Mac and in iCloud?
  • What is the status bar below the Photos view showing on your Mac? It may tell you what the problem is. How to check the status bar is explained here: About the status bar in Photos for macOS - Apple Support

A common problem for photos not downloading from iCloud is, that the Mac is still busy uploading photos to iCloud. as long as the upload to iCloud and merging of the photos into iCloud Photos Library has not finished, it will not start with downloading photos from iCloud. If your Mac should still be uploading, you simply have to be patient and have to wait for it to get the local library on your Mac in sync with iCloud.
