Can’t import photos from SD card into my iPad Air 3

I’m able to import photos ok onto my iPhone 7 which tells me that the SD card and adapter are working fine. When I plug them into my iPad nothing happens.

Looks like this this isn’t a new issue looking around the web.

Any work arounds from from anyone or fixes from Apple?

I bought an iPad to quickly edit photos while travelling, I’m now carrying the iPad as an extra thing to carry rather than something useful in my workflow.

Apple sells a lightning SD Card reader and it will work with your iPad. You may have seen the USB C card reader, which is not compatible with your iPad.

Thanks zmclearan. Tried all of that, iPad off and on again, adapter out for 30 seconds, card out for 30 seconds etc.

I’m now wondering if there is some kind of version compatibility issue with the lightning to SD adapter.

Looks like a third party one from back in 2017. That said I notice that the official Apple product compatibility list does not include iPad Air 3rd gen.
