Ipad Disabled

We entered the wrong password into my Ipad too many times and now it's disabled. I tried to connect it to itunes so I could restore it from a previous back up but don't get the option to do so. I tried the suggested article's idea with the home button and lock button and get taken back to the same screen. I tried to delete the data remotely with Find my Iphone however since it's locked it will not connect to the internet so my app can't find the Ipad to delete it. Please help I don't know what else to do! Right now I have a $300 paperweight!
