MAC Pro to InFocus Projector

I have tried to use a VGA Apple converter dongle and HDMI cord and cannot get this older projector to connect with a 2014 Macbook Pro. The projector is about 8 years old but cannot read the model number or find the information in the menu of the projector. My display will not reduce further than 1024 x 600.

I have a conference at this location with a keynote on Thursday and Friday and really hope we can get this to work!
