CarPlay and Bluetooth in car

I just updated to the iOS 12.4 and noticed that apple car play is not working as well. When I connect it it works fine but after a few minutes the audio goes mute but song continues to play. No sound is coming through my Mazda CX-5 speakers. If I disconnect the lightning cable and use the Bluetooth in the infotainment system the same thing happens. No sound. This happened immediately after the update. Now when I plug my phone back in the car says apple CarPlay failed. I delete the car from my settings and reconnect and it works for a little while. Then the same thing. Tried a different cable too. I’m positive this is the phones issue because the CarPlay worked just fine the morning before I updated the iOS.

Hello Mauricio_serrano,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your iPhone and CarPlay. I'm happy to provide some assistance for this.

1. Please check that your vehicle is supported listed here: Apple CarPlay - More than 200 models to choose from - Apple Support

2. Please ensure everything is set up properly as described this help article: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod doesn't connect to or work in your car - Apple Support

  • Since you mention that this occurred after iOS 12, please ensure these settings are also enabled: Settings > ScreenTime > Content & Privacy Restrictions > if Content & Privacy Restrictions are enabled, make sure CarPlay is enabled under Allowed Apps.

3. If the vehicle is supported and you still need more help, please check this help article: How to use CarPlay with your iPhone - Apple Support

There is also a step mentioning the need to check if the car stereo needs an update to work with your device or the iOS version, stating:

"If needed, install firmware updates. Check your car's manual for more information."

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
