If I run a PoE cable into my 5th Gen AirPort Extreme, can I then plug a POE device into it and receive power?

I am looking at adding some POE devices to my home, but we have a lack of wall ports for these devices.

So I was wondering, if I were to run a Cat6 cable directly from my PoE switch into the WAN port of my 5th gen AirPort Extreme, can I then plug a POE device into any of the available Ethernet ports on back of Extreme and receive transmitted power/watts?

Thank you!

Plug the POE switch in place of the AE.. you simply have it the wrong way around.

There are very few routers powered over POE and can distribute POE. It is simply not possible to get sufficient power down the ethernet. Some of the Ubiquiti edgerouters do have powered routers.. ER-X series has some.

There is no reason you cannot run long DC cable outside the ethernet though. Or even a long AC extension cable. Use a piece of shielded Cat for the job.
