What does in app purchase mean?

What does in app purchase mean? On an app already downloaded. We have family sharing. So I’m courteous to know if those are purchases already made within that app when your looking at app history

Hidden Apple Purchases So, I have family sharing. If I hide a app in hidden purchases, can someone in my family still see it in my purchase history from their phone or is it hidden?
