"Too many passcode attempts reset apple watch and pair again"

I have tried just about everything to get off of this screen. The watch is not paired with my phone, so I cannot reset that way. I have held the power button down but all that does is pop up the apple and then SOMETIMES gets me to the passcode screen, where, if I enter anything, it goes back to the "Too many passcode attempts". If I press the power button from that screen, that too, takes me back to the "Too many passcode attempts" screen. I tried to hold both buttons down but that didnt do anything either. Any help/assistance would be much appreciated!
