how to convert photo m4v to mov

I created a slideshow in Photos then Exported to my desktop. It became a very large .m4v video.

For smaller .m4v videos I have sent the very large video back to myself via Message, and it automatically becomes compressed to a much smaller .mov megabit file.

Is there a way to convert a LARGE .m4v to .mov preferably free?

Open the video in QuickTime Player. File/Export to your desktop. You will get a .mov file. The lower export resolution that you select, the smaller the file will be. There will be some loss in quality as you make it smaller.

-------

Using a Duplicate and Renaming its Extension:

Literally, to "convert" it, you would Right-Click the file's icon and than change its extension to .mov

IMPORTANT: Create a duplicate to try this modification, so nothing is lost.

So, see if this works: Right-Click on the File > Select Duplicate > Right-Click on the Duplicate > Rename it with the extension .mov
