After receiving a lot of SMS messages, my (Verizon) iPhone 6s will stop receiving SMS messages for awhile, not just from that thread, but all SMS messages, they also don’t show up on my other devices where SMS show up? What should I do to fix this

If the problem is with SMS (green) messages, you'll need to contact Verizon. The reason they don't show up on your other devices is because SMS messages, unlike iMessages (blue) are forwarded from your phone. If your phone doesn't get them, nothing does.
