Native Instruments A61 with Logic Pro X

I am using Native Instruments Kontakt Player 6 with Impact Soundworks Pedal Steel software instrument, inputting from NI A61 keyboard. When I run Kontakt as standalone, I can map knobs on the A61 to parameters on Pedal Steel, like Voice Mode, Articulation, etc., so I can put Pedal Steel in performance view and change parameters from the keyboard. Works fine. I have CC#21 for Voice Mode, etc.

However, when I run Kontakt as a plug-in in Logic Pro X, the keyboard is immediately "taken over" by Logic; three of the knobs are now controlling 1) pedal steel volume; 2) master track volume and 3) master volume. The other knobs are no longer sending the CC messages.

The manual says that this happens automatically when you connect a keyboard to Logic, but that it can be reversed in the Control Surface Preferences. However, when I go there, and click "MIDI Controllers", the keyboard does not appear. I have done the Setup, and I see it there, but it still doesn't appear in MIDI Controllers in Preferences, so I can't tell Logic Pro X to "leave it alone"!

This is driving me crazy, when I should be enjoying the Pedal Steel!

TIA
