Safari fails to open
I tried normal and safe mode booting without success. Each time I try to open Safari it says it can’t open due to an update in progress, but the update will not install and may be corrupted. How do I fix this?

Well, where I was going with it was just to get you internet access so we could maybe download a fix.
I have no idea why what worked actually worked, but great news I guess. :)
I'd keep a second Browser for emergency use.
Found a couple of possibilities on the AppStore to get us somewhere, put firefox in the search field, look for Maxon Browser or Kingpin Private Browser.
Do you have another Browser to use?
Does the AppStore still work & show the update available?
No other browser on this computer.
app store works and there are “no updates available”
Can you tell me where you are going with this? I’m not clear how it will help. Thanks.
I downloaded the Maxon Brower from the App Store, and Safari opened successfully. I don't know how this worked but thanks very much.
