iMac display is not working

My iMac display is not working. I can hear the computer running but no display. I have done several resets (un-plug the computer and all peripherals (except mouse and keyboard), wait 15 seconds, then plug in, wait 5 seconds and then restart.

I did that several times. I can hear the boot sound but still no screen. I then reset the ram (option+command+P+R) several times. Still the same outcome. I can now hear the boot sound every 5 min as the computer is trying to reboot.

It is possible that either backlighting or the display itself has failed. If you cannot troubleshoot these yourself, you should take the computer to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider to have it diagnosed and then you can decide how you want to proceed.
