Apple watch red apple logo

Apple watch shows a slow blinking red apple logo when on charger and will not charge or hard reset. Was working fine before and then I didn't use it for about a month (had it in the closet and was untouched) now it doesn't work. Don't understand why it's broken now in the first place...redicuous. Is it a software issue? how do i fix it?
