Exporting Unmodified Photos

Dear Community,

When I try exporting unmodified apple photos onto an external drive, I end up with more photos on the drive then on the apple photo app itself. Does anyone know what is happening during the export???

Are you perhaps exporting Live Photos? A Live Photos consists of two files, a still image and a video component.

Or, if you have been importing RAW&JPEG pairs, you will also be exporting two photos for each RAW&JPEG pair.

And if you enabled "Export IPTC as XMP" to save the metadata, Photos will have added an XMP file with the titles, captions, etc when you exported the originals.
