Can't install ios 9.3.6 on my ipads

I have an iPad 2 and a first generation iPad mini. The iPad 2 just swirls when I try to install the downloaded ios 9.3.6. The mini won't even connect to my network. Is there any way to reset them?

This link explains how to update your iPad using iTunes on your home computer. If you find you cannot do this, schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and they'll be happy to do the update for you at no charge.

I actually had the very same problem. On the iPad Mini it said that there is an update 9.3.6 to install but it just hung there forever. After several attempts I finally connected it to my High Sierra MBPro and there was an immediate promo on a completely black screen background asking me if I want to load and install 9.3.6 for my connected iPad Mini. I said yes and was asked to punch the iPad entry code... then the MBPro screen turned completely black and nothing seemed to happen vor a very, very long time. However, I just left it like that to do some other things and after about 10 minutes there it was, the white Apple on the iPad's screen. It took at least another 5 minutes until the task bar started to indicate activity and approximately another 15 minutes until it was up all the way. All that time the computer screen remained blacked with no interaction possible. Finally the iPad mini did boot into iOS 9.3.6 but the black screen on the MBPro remained. The iOS update finally did happen but the MBPro stalled and needed a hardware abort by means of the power button. Finally the MBPro booted again with the usual message about the emergency abort... but all was well and therefore I am able to write this report!

In a nutshell: Install from an external device but please do be patient!

I tried to download and install 9.3.6 on my iPad 3-- the one they call the iPad. It downloaded all right, but when I try to install it, it goes nowhere. It brings up a screen with "Terms and Conditions" and then that little circle just turns forever. So, finally, I just cancel it. I guess I wouldn't mind; I've done without 9.3.6 for all this time, but then, every day, it asks me if I want to install it only to go through the same process again. It's annoying.

Has anyone found a way to either get it to install or just stop it reminding me to install?

For a minute there, I thought it was going to work. It got past the reading the license agreement and do you accept it. I had to put in the passcode to the iPad again. But now it has been sitting with the laptop reading, "Waiting for iPad," and the iPad sitting there with the Apple logo on the front of it and a pale white line under the Apple for about twenty minutes, no progress. I'll wait a little longer. But if it doesn't work, I hope I can get the iPad working again.

I’m having a similar issue with my iPad MD365LL/A (64GB, Wi-Fi + Verizon 4G ) 3rd Gen. Running 8.2

The iPad downloaded 9.3.6 successfully via WiFi. When I press Install Now (which is in blue letters) it briefly turns to grey as it acknowledged the update while the wheel turns for 3 seconds and then it goes back to blue. Every time I press it does the same thing.

I proceeded to completely erase the iPad and try again to make sure there was nothing corrupted. The update downloaded again without any problems but the issue persist at the time of pressing Install Now.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
