Install older version of Adobe Acrobat Reader

The problem, of course, will be finding an older version of Reader to install. Unless you can get it directly from Adobe you will be opening yourself to possible malware, just like those fake Adobe Flash installers that op up on websites.

You should be able to drag the older version to the Trash and then empty the Trash and then install the updated version. Personally, I prefer using Preview which is pre-installed on your Mac as it is more stable, doesn't interfere with Mac OS and does not create problems such as you are experiencing now.
