no audio input in Pro X even though the interface is shown in preferences

I have my audio interface connected to the computer (2018 MacMini, Mojave, latest update) and it is selected as a source, and shows up as allowable in the Security and Privacy box), but no audio registers in the Record enabled track.

I discovered the problem, and in fact I think it is a design flaw in Logic. When you first create a track, if you click on <Tracks / New Tracks/ Audio or Guitar, a window opens up showing your connected interface (in my case it is either Tascam US 2X2 or iRig Pro I/O) and then audio will go into the track.

If you click on <Tracs / New Audio Track this window doesn't show up and audio from the interface does not show up in the record enabled track.

It seems there should be a way to change audio interface after a track has been created, but as of yet, I haven't found it. In the Information windows, the audio interface will show up, but it is grayed out and cannot be changed. If any one knows how to change this, after a "New Audio Track" has been created I would like to know, because it is so intuitive to just click "New Audio Track" and then I have to delete the track and recreate it using "New Tracks / Audio / Vocal or Guitar."

It also seems that if I use "Duplicate Track", the interface does not show up. (I could be wrong about this, but I don't have time right now to check it out- I have grand parenting responsibilities...) Thanks to all who tried to help.
