Gawd. Another broken record.

When will these crusaders realise that if 99.9% of people have no issue with the proximity sensor, then it's not a fault. The fact that you DO have an issue with 100% nof iPhone 4s just tells us you found a fault, joined a crusade and like to bank your little drum.

Bottom line is most peolpe have absolutely no issue. You can bandy about your 0.55% figure, but we all know that was a figure given in response to antenna atenuation and you and your fellow crusaders have adopted it and use it to prop up your failing cause.

If a miniscule fraction of a percent of people have an issue with something's design, then the design is not a fault, the idiots using it are. I'm sure all the crusaders can band together with their buddies and make a song and dance and get some little button added to the next piece of software, but you can;t get away from the fact that the overwhelming majority of the world has absolutely no issue here.

You'll get your wee button in iOS4.1 so let's stop all the horsesh!t muck throwing from you guys.

Unfortunately 100 % *ALL EACH AND EVERY ONE has a problem with Proximity sensor*

The number of users attending the forums ( not leaving the notes but attending ) with the name of the proximity sensor are now in Millions . I was in Manhattan Apple store and every person who were coming with complain I spoke with had the problem with Proximity sensor. But sometimes they either did not realize it is possible that it is a problem or they did not even know the name of the problem and where to look for the other people opinion.

Most of them , who I spoke with ( about 30 people ) , having a problem but did not enen understand what Jobs was talking about since Jobs did not tell the public the symptoms.

As to 4.1 my opinion it will not fix the issue and only will partially compensate the hardware problem. In a later series apple will probably change the design. But it remains to be seen.

Most of my friends who has iphone 4 telling me that they learned how to deal with the problem and it does not bother them. The only thing is the calls with them still get muted and disconnected , otherwise they love their Iphone 4.

Mentally they can not admit it is NOT working phone.

Calling others the idiots and other names does not help with the proximity sensor for sure.
Does not matter how long Jobs tries to keep the rabbit in the dark box but it will come up and it will be an issue for the iphone

That has to be the biggest lead of BS I've read in order to justify your position.

100% of all US drivers are impared when they are driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs. But for the vast majority of drivers this is NEVER an issue because they don't consume alcohol or drugs before they drive.

Just because you DO have the problem and WILL have the problem with all iPhone 4s (in the same way an alcoholic does and will have a problem with ALL motor vehicles), ir does not mean thet the vast majority of all iPhone users have the same problem.

The vast majority of iPhone users have absolutely no issue at all. Just because you DO does not make it a faulty product. Your car is not faulty, even though it is potentailly a drink drive killer. Your dish washer is not faulty even though it could harbor bacteria. Your phone is not faulty, even though you can;t get it to work the way your old one used to.

And you can justify the miniscule numbers of people finding this a problem all you like. If your handset would work perfectly well for about 995 out of 1000 people, do you not think you're just a little bit special?

Apple will not change their hardware for the special people who have discovered this issue and have a problem with it. They may honor them with a special button on the screen in the next software update, but to be honest, this issue will die a death because it is insignificant and only a flash pan hot topic of the monment as it's Apple's new product and we all know a new product brings out the guys with the grudges.

Buy a Blackburry or an Android. They really need the business. iPhones in the UK seem to be in short supply if you want a 32 GB model.

We all heard you already. We are invisible minority of complainers . Invisible that over 1 MLN people went to forums devoted to Proximity Sensor. MAC Magazine , PC Magazine , Apple store are full of people complaining about the issue and we are still a little fraction. Some changed their phones 4 times trying to determine if it is a may be specific units defects and still have the same problem.
I know what you do. You sell the phones and make money on it and you trying to tell us that there are no problem when in fact *ALL IPHONE 4 HAVE PROXIMITY SENSOR PROBLEM*

In Manhattan Apple store the Manager could not in a presence of 10-15 people show a single unit with no Problem with Proximity Sensor.

True , you can find the way to use it with this problem and still be happy , even all the calls are incidentally put on Mute and disconnected.

The stock Market will tell Apple what and when to change and who is the minority.

@MichaelEmpire, I appreciate your passion towards taking this issue forward as this issue really exists..
I wanted an iPhone4 so badly, but this issue has got me waiting for probably to get iPhone 4 now, after the units start coming out with all offered s/w updates as default...means, maybe 45 days or so.

@others, The issue exists, and the only reason some people don experience it is because of the way they use their cellphone..which makes them lucky ! The shares of AAPL are in real bad situation right now...Hoping for a "real" s/w update by the end of July.

The bottom line is that this affects a lot of people. A lot of them do not know or care what a proximity sensor is and it's actually worse if they don't because they just think they have a buggy phone that face dials, mutes, random calls etc.

I wish Apple would just concentrate their resources and fix it or provide a workaround.

If you didn't see the Korean video circulating the net right now, I suggest you take a look at it.

Apple, this is bad. I wish you luck. Please fix this problem as soon as you can. There is quite a lot riding on this. It doesn't matter how many phones are sold, because the more phones that are sold, the more the problem will spread.

It is like a car that explodes or the brakes randomly fail. It doesn't matter that there was only one - or two - or thousands in this case. The rest of the customers or potential customers get scared. Will it happen to them?

Check the stock price. Sure, Apple will have record earnings tomorrow and it will go up again, but it will also make people that have a problem scream louder. They will want to know why a company that is making so much in terms of billions of dollars does not fix the problems. You cannot control the spread of information.

If you don't think this is a major problem you are in denial.

It clearly is a problem as when i called Apple the 'adviser' informed me that he had indeed taken a number of calls on this issue and it was a 'known problem'.

After following there advice and restoring my iphone to factory settings, then again restoring on another computer the problem persists.
They now have advised that i may need a replacement handset.

If there was no problem i can't really see why they would be so willing to replace the handset!!

OK just got back from the Flagship UK store in Regents Street, I have already had one replacement phone that was slightly better as it didnt fail on 100% of calls with a face dial/mute/hold/speaker, the replacement only failed 50% of time but almost everytime it was opening my contacts or speakerphone this time.

Had to wait for about 45 minutes after my appointment as they were so busy.

They didn't even bother to check the phone this time, they just said they will replace it yet again but don't have any stock and would let me know when I could collect a new phone. When asked how long it would be, they advised if you havent heard anything after a week give us a call.

My only hope is they will give me a revised version, I have heard people have been given ones with a visible proximity sensor and a matt coated antenna band and the phones have been perfect in every way.

If you think this is a non-issue, you're fooling yourself.

At the Apple Store here in St. Louis, there were four people at the Genius Bar. The girl to my left was buying an iPad. The two guys to my right were both there for the same reason - the proximity sensor.

The Genius told me it was a known issue. He exchanged my phone for me and told me there was a good chance the new one would have the same problem. He said Apple would likely address it with a software update, but until then, I should relearn how to talk on my phone.

Between waiting for a software update to fix proximitygate and waiting for AT&T to update the firmware for their Alcatel/Lucent HSUPA/HSUDA systems, I'm more than a little fed up.

I've sent yet another trouble report to Apple, I'm guessing they are being inundated right now and I can only hope it puts urgency in their actions.

It appears to have harmed their stock price. I think that's the only way to really get the message across.

Me too.

I keep turning on mute and loudspeaker. Sometimes when I try to unmute or turn off loudspeaker the screen goes black and I can't see what the **** I am doing.

This is starting to become very aggravating. I don't want to take my phone back - I had enough problems with O2 getting my contract changed to what it was originally supposed to be when they made a mistake. 😟
