Podcast artwork is correct ONLY when subscribed

My podcast rss feed is https://followingon.com/new-blog?format=rss

The image in the itunes:image tag is this link here (a nice updated logo that I want to keep, and it fits the requirements etc)

But when you look at the podcast on iTunes, you get the wrong, old logo. I updated it months ago - so it's not just a matter of waiting. To make things even weirder, the logo comes up correct ONLY when you subscribe to the show in the iPhone Podcasts app. If you search for the show it comes up wrong.

I have tried resubmitting the feed in Podcasts Connect, but I can't get it to validate again. Is there something wrong with my feed? Or is it an Apple issue?

Your image has an alpha channel which means it won't be accepted in the Store. Evidently the Podcasts app doesn't mind. You need to remove it: and make sure the new iage has a different filename from that of the previous image, or the Store (which caches the image) has no way of knowing it's updated.

The URL you give for the feed leads to a 'file not found' error.
