AirPods not appearing on Find My iPhone

I've just bought a new AirPods Gen 2 and paired them with my iPhone. For some reason I can't see or search them with Find My iPhone because they are missing from 'All Devices'. I opened iCloud.com and go to Setting and they're also not there. My iPhone is connect to my iCloud account. I can find my Watch or MacBook but not the AirPods. My 'Find My iPhone' setting is turn on. I don't know why its missing from my devices. I looked Google for some solutions, and also looked in here, but nothing helped me. Tried to reset AirPods, tried to 'Forget the Device' and re-pair it, turn on off Find My iPhone, etc. Please help.

Technical specs:

iPhone 7, iOS 11.4.1

Apple Watch series 3 Nike edition, WatchOS 4.3.2

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015), MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Thanks.

iPhone 7

As this document states, second generation AIrPods require iOS 12.2 or later. Update your iOS, and always keep it current.

Never do this ... for any reason.

Or is it enough to pair it with my MacBook?

You can do that if you wish, if your MacBook is using MacOS Mojave 10.14.4 or later. But that may not solve your Find My iPhone issue.

I have a problem updating my iOS because some apps I have will no longer be supported. However I can update my macOS and try to pair it first. But I don’t understand why registering my AirPods in iCloud devices require an OS update. How it’s relevant? If I would used my friend iPhone, while I connect to my iCloud account, pair it and then return to my iPhone, will it work? Or it is enough to pair it with my MacBook?
