Removing remote management from my ipad for a company that no longer is around.

I had to do a hard reset due to a forgotten passcode, however when trying to set up the iPad it will not go past Data and Privacy. It gets stuck on Remote Management and if I continue it times out because there won't be anyone to remotely configure it. How can I get past this. I did a recovery twice and it won't allow me past this at all. Please help. One guy stated that it could be set up through iTunes in DFU mode? What is that? How do you get there. I have tried everything that I'm capable of doing at my level of knowledge with the iPad.
