iPhone 8 Plus Bluetooth

My iPhone 8 plus can’t see my car handsfree - older phones and my wife’s new Xs Max does...? Had a warranty exchange - still don’t see it! Any ideas anyone? Hardware or software? Thanks.

Hello russ6000,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that your iPhone 8 Plus won't connect with your vehicle via Bluetooth. I can see how this could be concerning, since other devices connect as expected. I'm happy to help.

When you received your replacement iPhone, did you restore from backup or set up as new? Since the issue persisted after replacing your iPhone, it's possible there is an issue with the content on your device. I recommend backing up, restoring with iTunes, and setting up your iPhone as new. This will allow iTunes to remove all content and settings from your iPhone and install the latest iOS version. Once the restore is complete set up the phone as new and test the issue without your content. Use the steps in the links below to back up and restore your iPhone:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists after setting up as new, restore your backup.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Hi thanks for the reply... so I checked the latest versions and backed up the phone.

Restored then checked an ‘empty’ phone and it picked up the cars hands fre straight away. Great ! so there’s nothing wrong with the phone.

I reinstalled the backup... it still sees the car!! Perhaps just a glitch somewhere but you have made me a happy Apple user again.

i can’t thank you enough.

best regards

Pete
