In Audiobooks the Authors are Not Sorted Correctly After Setting the Sorting Order.

In my library for audiobooks, in the author display with the view option of title. I have updated every file in all of the books so that the author sort is "last name, first name". In the list of authors the are still authors being sorted by their first name. For example Devon Monk is between Samuel R. Delany and Gordon R. Dickson. Is there a way of fixing the order to be correctly alphabetized?

BTW I checked http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/scripts.asp just in case he had a script for this.

Hi there,

Apple hid some of the fields for different media types in Get Info a while back, even though they may still affect sorting and display. Using a list view of your audiobooks enable the following six columns, artist, sort artist, album artist, sort album artist, composer, sort composer so you can see what is affecting things. I think that for best results with audiobooks you should have artist=album artist=composer and sort artist=sort album artist=sort composer. Assuming making such a change would help you may be able to use one my scripts to copy data from one field to another, or you can Get Info, temporarily change the media kind on the options tab, make the changes, then set the media kind back to audiobook.

I took a single book from one author who was out of order. Then I switched the book from audiobook to music and set author, artist, and composer to the author. Finally I adjusted all of the sorting fields to "last name, first name" as you suggested returned it to an audiobook. Initially it looked like it didn't work but then I restarted I tunes and that author was in the correct place.

Now I am wondering why having the other fields blank would cause this issue?
