I removed com.apple.Webkit.networking.xpc from firewall access, but I’m reading different things online. What can I or should I do?
MacBook Pro
OK, wasn't sure you read it.
I don't know why, but Sys Prefs>Security & Privacy>Firewall, unlock the Lock, Firewall Options button, there you can add, subtract, or change the status.
Sorry I should elaborate. What should I do about the com.apple.Webkit.networking.xpc that I removed from my Firewall settings.
Do you mean you highlighted it in the Firewall Pref Pane then clicked on the minus icon?
Yes! Exactly. That’s what I did.
Ah, you could click on the tiny plus icon that brings up a file selector, or you could chechmark below that... Automatically allow built-in software to receive incoming connections.
I understand. But I am referring to com.apple.Webkit.networking.xpc being enabled, then deleted.
You just deleted from the Pref Pane right? Not from the Disk right?
If so you don't have a problem, just do the 2nd suggestion in my last post.
Yes. I deleted it from the Pref panel in Firewall settings. Not the disk. As far as downloading software off the web, I’m not to sold. But thanks for the clarification.
You don't have to allow it, but it's just Apple updating the OSes protection definitions.
So deleting it from the Pref panel in firewall settings, will not compromise or harm the security of my Mac?
No, if you allow system to automatically use incoming connections.
regardless of its (com.apple.Webkit.networking.xpc) deletion? What if all connections (Firewall) are blocked?
Alright. Well, and again I’m not to savvy when it comes to tech. But isn’t the firewall meant to protect your “connection”?
That should be fine for a setting. :)
I understand you're anxiousness, but it's not really needed to worry that much.
Well I’ll take your advice and keep connections open. Thank you!
