Can't update Pages, Numbers on my new Mac Air

Setting up my new Mac Air has gone smoothly except for using the App Store to update several applications. I got notice to update, clicked the update buttons and got the following notice,

"to update you need to accept it on the Account Page in the App Store". I found the account page, but there is no option to accept or reject any of there apps. I have conducted a software update, so we're current.

Right now I'm in a closed loop with no obvious way to get out. I was on the AppleCare support chat line for 45 minutes, but only got two on-line articles that did not help.

Any suggestions?

You may need to click on purchases to see the apps to accept. If you still don’t see the option to “accept” the apps deleting them & re-downloading them from the Mac App Store usually works.

Peggy:

Thanks for your suggestion: it did the trick! I kept thinking to myself that I would need to go into "Reboot Mode" somewhere. Everything I was dealing with were automatically installed apps on the MacOS system. So I trashed each app (ex. Pages) and then the Update demand disappeared and I was able to reload it without a problem. I did the same for the other previously installed apps. I don't know why this happened. I suspect it had to do with the fact that these apps were already preloaded into the computer, but still needed an update.

The computer gave me an alternative suggestion which was to re-install the MacOS Operating System with the promise that I wouldn't lose any of my data. I was NOT going to do that!
