There are two corrections of the timezone that may need to be applied. You may need to correct the camera time and you may want to correct the local time.

Photos does not know about the timezone your camera clock has been set to, when you took the photos. And the camera may not have been set to the local time of the country where you took the photos. Both times can be fixed, but differently.

To change the timezone for a set of imported photos, select all photos that need the timezone fixed at once, then use the command "Image > Adjust Date & Time".

  • To fix the timezone for the camera time: In this panel click the place on the map where the photos have been taken to select the correct timezone strip - the timezone the camera clock has been set to, when you took the photos.

Adjust the "Closest City" to the correct city in the timezone of your camera.

This will probably shift the "Time Adjusted" by the timezone offset. You will want to change only the name of the timezone, not the adjusted time. So change the Time Adjusted back to the original time, if you only want to change the timezone to reflect the camera.

  • To fix the timezone for the local time: If you want to change the display of the date and time to the timezone of the location, change the timezone to the time zone of the location, after you corrected the timezone to reflect the camera time. For this second correction let photos change the time adjusted by the timezone offset.
