Messages from one person do not appear in Mac's Messages app

Hello

My mother has a Mac Mini from 2011 and runs High Sierra 10.13.6. Messages from my iPhone do not show up in the Messages app on her computer. They do however show up on her iPhone.

I have checked the system requirements for Continuity and while some things, like Handoff, won't work on her Mac Mini, Text Message Forwarding seems to be compatible (and is activated on her iPhone).

I'm not really sure which end to begin the troubleshooting on this so would appreciate suggestions.

Phillip, are those Messages using phone# or eMail?

Yes, that's it I believe Philip, on my iMac's Messages>Show Contact card it only has eMail addies, I get texts from android or other Macs.

Thank you for the reply and apologies that it took a while to reply. On my iPhone I have (under Messages/Send & Receive) "Start new conversation from" set to my mobile number. Is that what you mean?

Thank you very much for that suggestion, that solved the problem and messages now appear on the Mac Mini.

I still don't understand why setting Send From to an email address instead of the mobile number would change things. Maybe one of those things to file under stuff one will never know.

Philip great news, yes we never know, but I suspect it's because Mac can't make phone calls?

I wonder if Skype makes it different?
