Can’t Delete Recurring Event from Calendar

My wife invited me to a recurring event through google calendar. We have since canceled the event but it still shows up in my calendar. Since I’m not the author of the event I’m not able to delete it like the normal way like an event I created myself. I’ve looked everywhere for an answer but couldn’t find it. It’s annoying to get alerts for an event that isn’t real.

I’ve figured it out. Add a separate calendar called whatever you like. Switch the unwanted event to that calendar. Then simply delete the entire calendar. This will delete the event totally. No more false event and alerts.
