My iMac did an auto upgrade to High Sierra and then upgraded safari. Now my computer turns on but at the “Apple” it is extremely slow and once it is “done” nothing else can be done. Totally frozen!
1 - see if you can boot into Safe Mode. If you can then try to reboot normally.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.
2 - If a Safe Mode boot fails try booting into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and run First Aid on the drive. Try a normal reboot.
3 - if the First Aid fails reboot into the Recovery volume and reinstall the system.
