Fans FULL with MacOS Photos (Mojave 10.14.6)

I just turned iCloud on for Photos and my fans now run on FULL blast (5500-6000) rpm on my MacBook Pro Retina mid 2015.

I assume it is indexing or downloading photos...

How long will it go on?

Will it EVER end? (Is there a way to estimate the time remaining?)

IF not, I will turn it off again for sure as the fan noise is intolerable.

In activity monitor Photos is using 200-250% of CPU (NO idea how that is possible)

Thanks for any insight or experience.

I don't think SMC is related at all, but not sure. Pretty sure my 2015 MBP doesn't have the T2 chip.

This fan issue is ONLY happening JUST after (since) I enabled iCloud for Photos.

(I had it OFF previously).

If I turn macOS Photos app OFF (close the app) the system returns to normal nearly immediately.

Not sure how SMC could/would cause 250% CPU utilization in Photos app.

But thank you for the links. I may try resetting the SMC anyway.
