Sometimes when the light flashes green when l open my charging case. Or when it take them off the charger there is no light at all. Why is that. None of the information I find on line explains the flashing light or no light at all.

Yeah that information seems to come and go. I don't think that it is anything to worry about.
You might check all of the connections for lint or other debris. Also see:
How to clean your AirPods and EarPods
You could also do a full reset: Reset your AirPods
