Be certain you hold the side button for 5-10 seconds when attempting to power on.

Click on the Contact Support link at the top right of this page.
Before you do try a forced restart while it is connected to power: press and release the volume up button, press and release the volume down button then hold in the side button until you see the Apple logo.
Forced restart did not work. The phone is still dead and I am on vacation and 2 hours from the nearest Apple Store.
Verizon is shipping me a new phone which won't get here until Saturday afternoon unfortunately which I had to pay $20 to get before Monday even though the phone is clearly defective.
If you replaced it through Verizon your issue is with them regarding the shipping.
