Touch id works but home button press does not
touch id on the 6s still works but the home button does not. How much will this cost if I bring it to an apple authorized service center?

Didnt know it would cost $299. Might as well buy a new phone. But thanks for the response.
That's kind of the catch-all price for all out of warranty repairs other than battery or screen replacement. However, not everything costs that much. That's just the upper limit where they offer a complete replacement. If you read the text, it says it's up to that price. If the damage is to the logic board, then it's definitely going to be that price. However, I believe the home button is part of the screen assembly, or at least is with the newer iPhones with home buttons. The replacement price for the screen is $149.

If your iPhone was damaged and you don't have AppleCare+ coverage, your repair fee will vary, depending on the repair, up to the out-of-warranty fee below. These out-of-warranty prices are for repairs made by Apple. Apple Authorized Service Providers may set their own fees.
Sometime the issue is software related. It might be possible that there's a problem with your connection and you just need to have the home button/Touch ID/logic board connection reset using Apple's calibration equipment (aka the "Horizon Machine"). If that's the issue then it might even be a free repair at an Apple Store.
You could just use the virtual home button by going to settings/accessibility/assistive touch and turning it on. I use fingerprint to wake up my iPad and iPhone but never use the real home button for anything, just the assistive touch button on the screen. That saves wear and tear. You can single or double tap it, might save you some money.
