Mystery device connected to your network

If you have a mystery device called "envoy" connected to your network, it could be something you added recently, either a security system or, in my case, the solar panels on my roof. It is connected to Enphase, a company that monitors electronics via the internet.

At least this is my theory - does anyone have a different explanation for the presence of "envoy" on their router?

You might want to check this support document from Enphase, which will confirm that "Envoy" is name of a device that controls the solar panels.

Otherwise, it is not too difficult to find out if a device like "Envoy" is actually the controller for the solar panels that is connected to your network. Simply power off the controller for the solar panels and then power off and restart your WiFi router.

If "Envoy" no longer appears as a client on the network, then that tells you that "Envoy" is indeed the mystery device on your network.

On the other hand, if you have powered off the controller for the panels and "Envoy" still appears after you power off and restart your WiFi router, then you may have an uninvited guest on your network.

If that might be the case, then the best thing to do is change the password for the wireless network and then log on again with each device one at a time. That way, you can make a list of devices that you have connected to your network.
