Change # of rings

Hi, I want to change the number of rings on my iPhone XR before voicemail picks up. Everything online told me to go to my phone icon type in *#61# then press call and some screen is supposed to pop up, well it doesn’t work on my phone! It wants to call the number and gives me the message that the call can not be completed as dialed! Is there some other way to change it?

They own the network. If they say it can't be changed, then it can't be. Or more correctly they don't want to. The short code you tried is carrier dependent; it is different for every carrier. Your carrier apparently doesn't support it or uses a different one. Most carriers will change the number of rings (or actually the time before the call goes to voicemail) upon request, within a range where 30 seconds (~10 rings) is usually the upper limit.

My phone rings for at least twenty seconds! I just became a real estate agent and my customers will must likely get upset if they have to wait that long for them to be able to leave a message! I don’t understand why Apple doesn’t add that feature to the phone itself, so we can just change it to our preference! What are they even thinking setting the default to ring that long! In this day and age, people are too impatient and will hang up before the voicemail even picks up! Thanks for the info anyway!
