Couldn’t use AppleCard at Jimmy Johns
jimmy Johns accepts Apple Pay but not MasterCard therefore my Apple Card purchase failed. I had to use a VISA.

So how is this an Apple issue, if JJ doesn't take Master Card?

Seems like an oversight by Apple. They stated the card is accepted wherever Apple Pay is supported. I get that this limitation is a merchant issue, not necessarily Apple’s issue.
