I am unable to set up. After entering Apple ID and password (a zillion times) I’m asked to enter a 6-digit verification code for two-factor authentication. I receive the number on my iPhone and am told to enter the digits after the password. This doesn’t work. If I enter the password by itself there’s no spaces provided afterward to enter each digit. HOW DO YOU COMPLETE THE SETUP?
When using an older device you need to enter the password and code together, and there is a time limit. To avoid exceeding the limit you need to enter the password, then request the code, and add it to the password.

Thanks vazandrew - After repeated efforts and failing each time, this (above) is the only way to activate the older generation Apple TV when the account calls for a verification code. Be ready to solicit a verification code when entering the password and enter the code immediately after and together with the password. No dilly dally!
