Ipad white blank screen-press home to recover

Hi!

I've recently "tried" to restore my ipad after I lost the passcode to it. However, I accidentally click "update" instead of clicking "restore". I realised my mistake yet it was too late to do anything. Now my ipad is appearing to have a white blank screen with the word "press home to recover" yet it requires a passcode when I press the home button ( I lost the passcode). Please help me to restore my ipad preferably, to do a factory reset!!! Thank you!!!
