Unlocking an iphone 8

My daughter received an iphone 8 from her Papa which was reset with no sim and she created a passcode. Now she can't remember the passcode and it is disabled! How do I open it? There's no info on the phone so it doesn't matter if it resets again. I want to get it set up at Verizon but I can't get in it. Please help...
