Phone screen gets lighter as you use it until the screen becomes grey with lines in the middle

My phone has a smashed phone screen and I recently dropped it again today and now the screen resolution seems lower and the screen gets brighter as it is used until it is grey and you can’t see what’s underneath it. Is this just damage to the lcd that can be fixed or would getting a screen replacement waste my money?
