Broken phone needs a 6 digit code
The code I’m receiving on the iPad isn’t working as a code for the phone it’s very confusing and I can’t figure out how else to do it when this is the right code!!

The code you receive on your iPad is for your Apple ID. The phone is presumably locked with a passcode - a four or six digit number which locks just that device. As this is stored only on the device it can't be retrieved in the way that an online password can, so if you've forgotten it the only way forward is to erase the phone. Please see If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
